Customer Video Review Length:: 3:44 Mins I decided to purchase this Arkon bike mount in hopes of having my Nexus 1 in front of me and acting as a heads up display for use with the android app. “Google Tracks.” I wanted to be able to see the distance I’ve traveled at a glance as well as average speed during my travels. Although I initially had my doubts about the unit and the phone’s security it faired pretty well. If you intend to be on paved roads or smooth graveled trails you will have no problems. If your taking this on more rugged trails with intense impacts I would highly recommend using a Velcro patch to keep your device from shifting lose as well as installing the mount vertically. The rubber pads along the sides are good for average riders. Hope this review helped a little bit and happy riding.

I bought this to secure my G1 to my mountain bike. The spring-loaded flanges that hold onto the sides of the phone are weak and a bad design to begin with. The phone is only gripped on two small patches on either side.. hold your phone with your thumb and forefinger like this and then jerk your arm up and down and you’ll see what I mean, if you hit even the slightest bump it will go flying. I hadn’t even made it out of my driveway before the phone had popped halfway out of the mount. Add to this the fact that the G1 sits very high, nearly 2/3 of the phone is out of the holder, and it is not a very large phone. A much better design would have added a bungee cord or some other means of wrapping around the front/top of the phone. On the up side, the base that comes with it is nicely adjustable for different viewing angles, and you can slide the phone mount off the handlebar mount. Unfortunately this is one of the only phone holders on the market, so I’ll have to modify it to work securely. So, I probably should have just made something from scratch to begin with.

It is not very big to hold a large cell phone. For most of the cell phone, it is wide enough to hold them safely. I have tried it for my Dell X51v PDA and it is too wide to fit in. |
